Why this project matters

As scientific breakthroughs regarding HD and other complex neurological conditions are emerging globally, it is imperative that the physical environment also seeks to progress its position, moving away from reactive, generic responses towards a more holistic, whole-person and individualised approach. An approach proven to contribute more positively to general mental health, overall well-being and an improved quality of life.

What we’re looking to achieve

We are seeking to develop co-design processes and co-production responses that will ultimately result in housing that:

• Supports independence, dignity and a continued feeling of value
• Encourages and enhances social connection
• Reflects the real needs of people living with these complex conditions

This means moving away from traditional, institutional-style models and towards homes and housing that truly support and reflect everyday life.
